Major Jamie Pennington was our speaker on February 10 to share stories and information about The Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army is an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. They are in 128 countries in the world headquartered in East London.
Tom Cardwell will be on hand to discuss the Rotary Vocational Training Team (VTT) from our are to Georgia. VTTs are groups of professionals who travel abroad either to teach local professionals about a particular field or to learn more about their own. Teams can be funded by district grants and global grants.
Lincoln South Rotary Club lost a friend last week. Dean Heermann who passed away on February 9. We send our condolences to his wife Pat and their family.
Dean was a charter member of Lincoln South Rotary Club and served as President 1987-1988. Dean was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was one of the founding Board Members of the Lincoln South Rotary Club Foundation.
Suzanne Tyrrell provided a vocational presentation on February 10. She had a career or managing companies with a focus on Human Resources activities. She decided to become a consultant in the area of Executive Coaching and HR. She works with many nonprofit organizations doing strategic planning and board development.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) in District 5650 is a weekend camp program. This year it will be April 7 (noon) to April 9 (noon) at Camp Kitaki in Louisville. RYLA programs focus on leadership and provide an opportunity for the participants to practice what they have learned. Click here for the District 5650 RYLA Website Page.
A traditional part of our high school scholarship awards is that we provide gift bags to the finalists and their school counselors.
We need a coordinator for these gift bags. If we do not have a coordinator we will drop the gift bag aspect of the scholarship program. This year the scholarships will be awarded in April.
Lincoln South Rotary supports projects and activities in many ways. We can periodically provide funds through grant programs. There are grants available through the Lincoln South Rotary Club Foundation as well as matching grants through Rotary District 5650.
