Community Action’s Store provides access to basic care items to participants of its poverty-fighting programs and services (click here). Community Action’s participants use points they receive in their program in exchange for critically needed items. This month, Lincoln South Rotary Club is sponsoring Community Action’s Store. Here’s how to help:
  • Sign up for a volunteer opportunity in the Store on January 29 or 30 (a couple of  slots left!) - click here to sign up
    • Invite your family and friends to volunteer
    • volunteers need to be at least 16 years old and, if they are under 18, they’ll need to be volunteering with a parent/guardian
  • Purchase diapers (size 4, 5, or 6) to help Community Action restock the shelves of the Store. Members can either:
    • Buy diapers from this wish list and have them sent directly to Community Action - 210 O Street Lincoln 68508 402-471-4515 (include in the notes that it is a gift from Lincoln South Rotary Club for acknowledgement and tracking purposes) - click here for the wish list
    • Buy diapers locally and bring to the meeting on February 6 (changed due to cancellation of January 23 meeting
Community need for basic items like diapers is growing. Please consider participating in this opportunity to help our neighbors keep their children in clean diapers!

From previous articles:

Heather Loughlin headed the Lincoln South Rotary Club Service Club Committee which also included Joyce Schmeeckle, DeEtta Vrana and Audrey Richert. The committee presented a proposal for a multi level service project for our club - including our time, talents and other treasures. The Board approved the proposal at the December 19, 2025 meeting.

Lincoln South Rotary Club would be the initial partner with Community Action to support The Store. As a partner we would
- - provide volunteers a few times a month
- - volunteers would help set up the store, prepare goods, stock shelves
- - assist clients in the store
- - have opportunities 4X per year for focused donations - set times when there are higher needs needs for certain items
- - there would be posters featuring Lincoln south Rotary, items in the Community Action newsletter, and media coverage

Stay tuned for more information and opportunities to volunteer.
