On June 17, we heard about the role of the courts, particularly the appellate process, from the Honorable Judge Riko E. Bishop.
The process can be confusing as there are certain steps that are needed depending on the case, the type of crime, and also the court that provided the original verdict. Some cases bypass the appellate court and go directly to the supreme court.
On June Lincoln South Rotary Club heard from John Chapo. It is always exciting to hear "What's New at the Zoo" but we also learned about the history and development of the zoo and the programs.
The Lincoln Children's Zoo is home to 100 species, 300 specimens, including 30 endangered animals. With 7,000 members it is one of the most used zoos per acre in the Country.

The Lincoln South Rotary Club Foundation held an International Dinner on Saturday, June 4. This was a social event with a fundraising component and featured a cooking competition of International foods.
Twice a year the Lincoln South Rotary Club Foundation provides grants for local projects focusing on youth and education. The recipient of the grant this cycle was Windsong which provides equine therapy to individuals of all ages with varying abilities in a safe and supportive environment. (Click here for photos.)
