In celebration of the Independence Day Holiday, Lincoln South Rotary Club will not be meeting on July 1. 

 

We hope that you can all attend on July for the Club Changing of the Guard and Celebration of Rotary. We will highlight the activities of the club during the past year and look forward to the 2016-17 Rotary Year.

Congratulations to Lincoln South Rotary Club Member Jen Yung "Ryker" Lee who was selected to be one of the "Ignite 8 Speakers" of Ignite Lincoln.

 

From the Ignite Lincoln Website: "Every year, Ignite Lincoln celebrates passion by giving 15 brave souls 5 minutes and 20 slides to talk about their passion. We also celebrate our passion for community by giving away the event’s proceeds to five local nonprofits."

 

Ignite Lincoln 8 (the 8th year for the event) is 8-18-16. All proceeds support local non-profit organizations. Last year funds were given to Friendship Home, Indigo Bridge, Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach, Nonprofit Hub and Voices of Hope.

We received word a while back that Lincoln East Rotary was organizing a work day to help build a ramp at Harland Johnson's home. Harland has been a good friend to many - including Lincoln South Rotary Club. He is having health issues and now needs to use a wheel chair.

 

Thank you to Lincoln South Rotary Club Member Dick Wampler for being part of the construction crew at the Johnson house.

Insurance – Do you know what can happen? Prepare to be enlightened on June 24, 2016 when we hear from Kelli Kaiser.

On June 17, we heard about the role of the courts, particularly the appellate process, from the Honorable Judge Riko E. Bishop.

The process can be confusing as there are certain steps that are needed depending on the case, the type of crime, and also the court that provided the original verdict. Some cases bypass the appellate court and go directly to the supreme court.

Dues statements were recently mailed to all members.
