This is the time of year when we ask Club Members to contribute to The Rotary International Foundation. We hope that you will consider an annual contribution amount of $120.

On January 8, Lincoln South Rotary Club heard from Richard Katt - State Director, Nebraska Career Education (NCE). Richard talked about the NCE model which includes the expectation for all students to develop a solid academic core and to become college and career ready. NCE helps students set goals and not only focuses on academic and technical skills but exploration of career options available to them.There are 6 career fields that students can choose from including Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources; Business, Marketing & Management; Communication & Information Systems; Health Sciences; Human Sciences & Education; and Skilled & Technical Sciences.

On January 15th we will hear from Barb Tyler -Marketing Director for Independence Houses which provide services for those with Alzheimers and other forms of dementia.

Cheryl Brandenburgh presented the club with a banner that she recently received when she attended a meeting of the Seward Alaska Rotary Club.

Lincoln South will be collecting food and cash donations for the Lincoln Food Bank from now through the Friday before the Super Bowl. Kay Wunderlich, chair of the drive has set a goal of more than 1,100 total pounds of food plus cash. If you would like to donate items or cash you can bring them to the regular Friday meetings and Kay will deliver them to the food bank. Lincoln South Rotary Club received a Certificate of Appreciation for supporting the Polio Plus Campaign during the 2014-15 Rotary Year. Accepting the certificate is Jenny Cardwell, Lincoln South Rotary Club President 2014-15.

 

In a letter from District Governor Rod Bates, it was pointed out that Lincoln South Rotary was among the 9 clubs (out of 45) in Rotary District 5650 contributing $1500 or more for the year.

If the Nebraska State Offices are closed due to weather, then Lincoln South Rotary Club will cancel.
