Lincoln South Rotary Club is a club of action.
One reason we have been the top club in our District is because of the projects we support, both with volunteers and financially.   Our work with Meals on Wheels, our ongoing support of the Food Bank, the Dictionary Project, the support of Rotaract, the support of Lynette’s Angels, our Tribute to First Responders and partnership with Crime Stoppers, our partnership with Clinic with a Heart at Kuck Motorsports, planting trees in partnership with Habitat for Humanity and the list goes on through our grants.

When you go to the grocery store some shelves are empty.  You cannot but think of panic buying, the kind you only saw in movies in the past.  The constant bombarding of the news and our own nature survival instinct put us into a focus of self.  At the risk of generalizing, our Club members all have the financial resources to purchase the items they need to give them comfort in a time of imposed threat.

In this time of isolation and concern over our health, we must continue to live “Service above Self.”  Although we cannot meet, we can still be of service.  There are more stories about the struggles of our local non-profit organizations in fulfilling the gap between the haves and have-nots.

Next week your Board is going to meet, online, to discuss the future actions for our Club, such as, when can we meet again and is there action that we can take in the interim?

When I was at the grocery store this week, what surprised me the most was the empty shelves of toilet paper and cleaning supplies.  All I could picture was a bunch of people sitting on the toilet while cleaning the bathroom!
