Lincoln South Rotary Club is wrapping up our campaign to support the Big Gumdrop Outdoors.
We heard from Elijah Riley or Big Gumdrop Outdoors - Connecting Urban Youth with Nature on January 3, 2025.
Big Gumdrop Outdoors is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Lincoln, Nebraska, dedicated to educating urban youth about nature. Through hands-on activities that immerse youth in Nebraska's natural environment and teach essential wilderness skills, we inspire the next generation to explore the outdoors and consider careers in natural resources.
Since then we have received a wish list of items that they can use to support the developing program. Members have donated fishing supplies which is a primary focus of the program. They also have other outdoor activities so we donated magnifying glasses, binoculars as well as craft supplies - paper, markers, crayons, etc.
In addition members have donated over $300 in cash for them so they can purchase items kids may need to participate in the activities.
Our Service Project Chair, DeEtta, provide gumdrop prizes (DOTS) based on the answers members provided to the question "what did you do this past week to get you outdoors. The DOTS were won by John Herdmann, Kay Wunderlich, Dave Dietz and Clay Ehlers.
