We learned that DeEtta Vrana grew up on a farm near Bayard and had a view of Chimney Rock from the kitchen (she takes credit for getting the votes for the design of the Nebraska State quarter).
She started piano lessons at the age of 8 from Emily Osborne (Tom's Aunt) and still enjoys playing.

When DeEtta attended UNL she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Her major was in Teaching Family and Consumer Sciences. Though she was a stay-at-home mom when she first got married, she ended up speaking at the high school, college and community college levels.

While teaching she got involved in mentoring and ended up as the Executive Director of the TeamMates program when it got started. Later she managed retirement communities and then returned to teaching even after retirement.

She has a son and a daughter as well as a step-daughter and grandchildren that keep them very busy..

She first joined Rotary in 1997 as a member of Lincoln #14 and, after some time away decided to return to Rotary and joined Lincoln South July 1 2017.

Besides playing piano her hobbies include collecting marbles and red trucks.
