We got to know Del Phillips, new member of Lincoln South Rotary Club, during his Member Moment presentation Friday, February 17, 2023.
Del shared that he was born in Grand Island Nebraska. He had 3 daughters and 8 grandchildren.

He said he had a great 21 year military career in the army at seven different installations. He was a JAG officer, explaining that it is not just an officer who gets some legal training - JAG officers are licensed to be attorneys first.

Del became certified in Government Contracts and Employment Law. He also had to become an expert in the Laws of War.

He continued his education while at the Pentagon, so he holds a BA, JD and LLM - Master in Law. He stated that in some negotiations having an LLM is helpful.

Del loves Rotary - first for giving his daughter (Nikki Isemann) a scholarship to study abroad. He participated in Lincoln South Rotary Club events even before becoming a member, appreciating the heart warming warmth around the club and how we are always doing good things for others. He shared how he enjoyed participating during the Red Cross Appreciation days when Lincoln South Rotary Club members would pass buckets to collect money in the football stands. We all chuckled as he reminded us that we were treated to front row seats to the game - but it was right behind the players - so we could not see the field.

Something we may not expect - Del was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Wherever he worked, people knew they could count on him to supply the Girl Scout Cookies. As a Troop Leader he was able to take the girls on trips to Munich, Berlin, Paris, Wurzburg and The Pentagon.
