Lincoln South Rotary Club is officially a sponsor of Community Action’s Store. Besides volunteers, many diaper donations have already been received to help with the goal of 1,000 diapers donated in January. Below you will see more photos and the message from Community Action.

The Community Action Store provides access to basic care items to participants of its poverty-fighting programs and services (click here). Community Action’s participants use points they receive in their program in exchange for critically needed items. In January, Lincoln South Rotary Club sponsored Community Action’s Store.

Diaper donations can still be brought to the Lincoln South Rotary Club Meeting February 6.

Than you to Syd, DeEtta, Bob, Suchitra and Suchitra's friend Rita for the volunteer time January 29 and January 30. It sounds like it was beneficial - yet fun - volunteer activity.

Here is the information that we received from Community Action:

Here’s your good news for the day…

Thursday’s volunteer was the ever helpful Syd Widga.  He worked for 2 hours folding the clean clothes, cleaning shoes and overall helping out in the Store!

On Friday, the volunteers were DeEtta and Bob Vrana, Suchitra Pattnaik and her friend Ritu Garg. They bundled and stocked diapers for the full two hours.  They bundled 1,587 diapers!  This has really helped the store be stocked up and ready to go!

Attached are the best photos of those 2 days. Well, DeEtta may wonder about the inclusion of her shooting rubber bands, but I have a feeling it fits somehow…!

You are truly holding up your theme of people of action. Thank you!

From previous articles:

Heather Loughlin headed the Lincoln South Rotary Club Service Club Committee which also included Joyce Schmeeckle, DeEtta Vrana and Audrey Richert. The committee presented a proposal for a multi level service project for our club - including our time, talents and other treasures. The Board approved the proposal at the December 19, 2025 meeting.

Lincoln South Rotary Club would be the initial partner with Community Action to support The Store. As a partner we would
- - provide volunteers a few times a month
- - volunteers would help set up the store, prepare goods, stock shelves
- - assist clients in the store
- - have opportunities 4X per year for focused donations - set times when there are higher needs needs for certain items
- - there would be posters featuring Lincoln south Rotary, items in the Community Action newsletter, and media coverage

Stay tuned for more information and opportunities to volunteer.
