Lincoln South Rotary is experiencing a Leadership and Attendance challenge. We held a Club Assembly July 11 with the tag line: Revitalizing Our Club: A Path Forward.
Recognizing a need to address strengthening our club, the Past Presidents met earlier to develop a plan.
A Club Assembly was scheduled and a survey was developed.
The Past Presidents selected some Members to ask to take on the role of President for 2025-26 and 2026-27. They also discussed appointing additional members to the Board - some with more experience with our club's history - to be voting members of the Board.
The meting was well attended and everyone was encouraged to provide input.
During the Club Assembly, the membership approved:
Syd Widga (a member on the 2025-26 Board) - to serve as 2025-26 President
Tami Lambie - was voted to be placed on the Board and to serve as 2026-27 President.
We then moved into discussion of the survey responses sent to 2025-26 Active Club Members. We received 23 responses which were summarized and presented at the Club Assembly.
During the Club Assembly the members were invited and encouraged to discuss. Some key elements:
- - most powerful motivators to attend - fellowship and quality speakers
- - social interaction is a top reason
- - appreciation of community, friends and shard purpose
- - speakers - "chicken and egg" - good speakers draws attendance; it is easier to get qualify speakers with good attendance
- - service may not drive attendance but it is a key element
- - members are deeply proud of their service
- - some prefer short-term / one time service projects while others like the on-going items like meals on wheels
- - seems that we need a good mix - both short- and long-term projects
- - there was also discussion of being able to contribute in various ways - actual "hands-on" vs. donations of goods or cash
- - meeting frequency was discussed - with mixed responses to reducing vs. leaving at weekly
- - culture has changed - less commitment vs. flexibility
- - we discussed 2 formal, +1 service + 1 social monthly
- - also suggested was 3 formal +1 service or social
- - those that travel or have other commitments cannot always align with specific weeks
- - consideration of the meeting location was pointed out
- - if The Venue would not support a reduced number of meetings, we may need to find a new meeting location
- - high percentage suggested discontinuing zoom option
