On July 8, 2022, we heard from Kelsi Anderson of the Bryan College of Health Sciences on the topic of healthcare worker shortage. She was joined by Valerie Hunt. Kelsi Director of Philanthropy and Major Gift Officer at the Bryan Foundation
During our hybrid meeting, we reached 22 members and guests including our speaker. Thank you to Chan for all of his service during the meeting and to Suzanne for the photos.
The speakers were Kelsi Anderson and Valerie Hunt. Kelsi is the Provost for Bryan College of Health Sciences and Valerie is the Director of Philanthropy and Major Gift Officer at the Bryan Foundation. They both spoke on the need of health workers today and how the College is trying to meet the growing need for workers. Kelsi specifically spoke on the programs being developed to increase the efficiency of getting students well trained in as short a time as possible, especially if they already have an undergraduate degree. She also addressed a program between LPS and the College that would allow students to take courses that will transfer into a degree at the College. Valerie spoke specifically about the financial needs of the students and the need to find financial support for all students but especially for new American students and students of a diverse economic background.
