We heard from long-time member Kay Wunderlich during the Member Moment on December 16, 2022 at Lincoln South Rotary Club.
Kay was born in Lincoln and, after college, moved to Central City.

She was the first woman to work in the parts department of an International farm store. Though people resisted her at first, they learned to appreciate her knowledge and skills.

She started her own businesses - first in crafts and gifts and later daycare.

She has been married to Jim for 32 years. She had 3 children with her first husband - Rebecca (in Boston), Rachel (in San Jose) and Michael (in Texas). Each of her children have 2 children - boy and girl each. The youngest is 18 months old. She spends as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren.

She returned to Lincoln with her children. She learned of a new TV station coming to town - KLKN - and applied to work there. She was the first employee they hired. She and Jim also have a Bed and Breakfast just south of Lincoln.

She started in Rotary in 1995 but transferred her corporate sponsorship to another employee to help them get involved in the community. After being away for a while, she joined Lincoln south Rotary Club again in 2014. Kay served as President 2017-18.

She loves Rotary - this group - all of the moments like spending time with friends at meetings. She reflected that wherever you wear your Rotary pin you have a friend.

What we may not know about Kay - about 20 years ago she had a health event that caused her to go into a coma. She is blessed to still be here - we are all blessed to have her here. With all of the experiences and challenges, she feels that she could write a book one day and has an interesting title in mind - "So You Woke Me Up For This".
