Members of Lincoln South Rotary Club have learned of the challenges for new Americans. They enter a new city with little support. Learning a new language can be a difficult adventure.

Knowing that the Center for People provides free classes for English Language Learners we wanted to know how we could help. We found that the classrooms needed upgrading – new technology.

A grant for $5,000 was provided by Lincoln South Rotary Club, the Rotary District and the Lincoln South Rotary Club Foundation. That provided a smartboard and accessories.

From the Center for People: We, at Center for People, are incredibly grateful to the Lincoln South Rotary Club for their generous grant supporting our ELL and Workforce Readiness classrooms. This investment allowed us to bring a Smart Board into our learning spaces, creating more interactive and engaging opportunities for our learners we serve each day. Technology like this helps remove barriers to learning while strengthening language, digital, and career skills that empower individuals in our community to build brighter futures.

The new technology is in place and being used daily at the Center for People.

From Audrey Richert, Lincoln South Rotary Club Project Manager, The new technology benefits people striving to learn English and clients who want to gain skills to remove barriers to employment, which in turn will grow our local workforce and economy.
