The Rotary District 5650 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp was April 1-3, 2022. The 2022 theme was "Tomorrow's Leader Begin Today". Lincoln South Rotary Club sponsored one of these future leaders to participate in the program.

Cultivating future leaders from Eastern Nebraska and Southwestern Iowa is what RYLA is all about. The camp promised to help students discover their potential and develop skills needed to be a leader in high school, community, career and everyday life.

While soliciting for participants, the RYLA committee asked:
Do you know a high school sophomore or junior?
Do you think of this student as a citizen of the world?
Do you believe they have a commitment to community service?
Does this person believe they matter and have influence?

They planned for 50 students to be awarded tuition to participate at Camp Kitaki for the weekend camp, those students sponsored by Rotary Clubs and Rotarians of District 5650.

While the direct beneficiaries of this financial pledge are the students, their families, their communities, and Iowa and Nebraska are indirect beneficiaries. This type of gift keeps on giving; the leadership skills gained can never be taken away.
