Lincoln South Rotary Club is supporting Little Free Pantries as an ongoing project. Michael wanted to share this message:

Thank you to all who donated to the Little Free Pantries this month!!!

I have a sweet story to relate: we were filling one of the larger pantries in Cooper Park when I noticed a lady walking on the park path about a block from us. The next thing I knew, she had retraced her steps and was talking to us. She said she had a job but her money did not last until the end of the month and that she depended on the pantries to get her through the month.

She said she came back when she saw us filling the pantry because she wanted to thank us and to say how very much she appreciated what we were doing. We visited awhile – she was approximately 50-60 years old. She said she mostly used the things that give her protein (like canned tuna, canned meat, etc.). We gave her an empty bag to fill and left some other bags in the pantry and left.

I had a few tears when we drove away because I can not even imagine having to go to a park and check out what’s in a pantry because I was hungry!

THANK YOU for this nice lady who came over to tell us that she appreciated what we were doing!!!

You can purchase items and bring them to a Rotary Club Meeting. Michael will stock the pantries with your purchases. Or, you can donate cash to those purchasing groceries. Or, fill a pantry directly. There are nearly 50 Little Free Pantries in our area - click here for a listing and map of locations.
