Dr. Darrin Good, President of Nebraska Wesleyan University, was our guest speaker today. At a glance, he reported that the student body currently has 1,282 undergraduates and 132 graduate students. This is a 13:1 student faculty ratio. There are no teaching assistants and the vast majority of classes are taught by full-time faculty. Faculty are hired and tenured for excellence in teaching and mentoring, not research and results in extraordinary outcomes. Tuition is currently $43,966 with the addition of Fees/Housing/Food bringing the yearly total to $58,300. 99% of students receive financial aid ($39,822 average).
84% of traditional undergraduate students graduate in eight consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment. 98% of the class of 2025 reported landing jobs or enrolling in graduate school within six months. 80% of the class of 2025 working graduates are employed in Nebraska which contributes to a Nebraska “Brain Gain“.
91% of dental school applicants are accepted. 90% of physical therapy school applicants are accepted. 85% of medical school applicants are accepted where the national rate is 43%. There is a 100% first time NCLEX pass rate for nursing.
42% of students participate in varsity sports. NWU is Nebraska’s only NCAA division III university with no athletic scholarships and competes in the American Rivers Conference. NWU ranked 14th in the NCAA for academic all Americans. UNL is third on the same list making Lincoln a number one city in the nation with the most academic All-Americans with 578.
